Joe's
Surprise 80th Birthday Party This is weighty, Joe is almost eighty. Anyone that would wonder how this kind of surprise could be pulled off in this day and age of rapid communications must think through their own reactions if their birthday were December 1st. Would you expect a surprise birthday party in July? Thought not! A visit by son John was rumored to be the motivation for Joe's daughters to pull this together. Those gals REALLY know how to party. |

I have to think Joe was MORE than wondering what was going on when his son, John dragged him over to daughter Linda's in the middle of the afternoon. Crepe paper streamers also had to seem a little out of the ordinary. The biggy though was being greeted by brother-in-law Gene and his lovely wife Betty at the door...all the way from Arizona. Notice he was making sure to get a hug from his Emily. |
| Hey, nobody fools Joe for long...what are you guys doing here? Note the "tag" on Joe's pocket. "GP" for grandpa. Talk about wrapped around their little fingers!! | ![]() |

Joe had to race around getting his hellos to everyone. Actually rather than hello, I think I remember a call for Pabst Blue Ribbon, but whatever. |
| Lovely daughter, Terese, was racing around with her sister Linda making sure all was where it should be and everyone was having a good time. They were. | ![]() |

Even Uncle Art from the wilds of Lexington made it for the festivities. Understand he had surgery only a week ago, but Art never lets a little thing like a cutting keep him away from a party. |
| This picture didn't have a darned thing to do with Joe's birthday party excepting it was taken the day before while these beautiful gals were stopping over at grandpa's and getting all fired up to attend. Cat and Em were playing their duo for Grandpa Hal (the good looking brother) and having a ball. | ![]() |
| I am waiting for the pictures from the film type cameras to better fill in who did what at the party. In the interests of getting "something" up on the site, I grabbed the digital shots from my new Kodak DC215. No question in my mind digital photography is the wave of the future. | |
