Lisa Dougherty's Baby Shower
(August 13th 2000)

"I am NOT getting fat, that's a baby in there". Lisa opted for the "husband and wife are invited" party type shower, rather than the more classical, "gals only" type. Made it easier for me to grab pictures and enjoy the festivities.

Had to sneak in a "boy am I getting pregnant" picture of our Lisa. This was taken on the Saturday before the shower just after (yes I said AFTER) she did a 20 mile ride. Hubby Gene said it wasn't all that much as she sucked his wheel the whole time and he barely got into zone 3 (or was it zone 2) the whole ride (whatever all that means). Tell me how you get into a bike riders tuck with all that baby in front!
To set the scene, we had a BIG tent pitched in the backyard of Gene & Lisa's house and surprise of surprises I caught this guy circling around inside the tent. He didn't stop as he was some 4 or 5 weeks early, but he gave us all a start.
Right there in the center of the table was this spectacular floral arrangement that showed up the same time that Ellie Dougherty walked in. Must be nice to have that kind of talent and capability. Leave it to Ellie to add a little color to anything in which she is involved.
Slipped around snapping the folks as they watched in rapped attention as Gene and Lisa opened their MANY gifts. Dennis (THE Dad) Dougherty had to stand to check things out. There in the background is the ever lovely Dorothy Phillips and her dashing husband Don. Down front we have Kevin, Lisa (his lovely wife) and last, but NEVER least, the love of Craig's life, Stephanie.
Mom was chatting away with Lisa's school buddy Pey-lih Ho, with Ellie just over her shoulder. Again our Stephanie with Lisa and OUR Cat look on.
Caught everyone on there way to the tent to watch the gift opening. In a well organized presentation this would have been ahead of the "rapped attention" shots, but what the heck. Gene and Lisa are leading the way while Kev, Steph and Craig wait. Joe Dougherty is kind of bringing up the rear. Emily just wants to play ball and is looking for someone to join in. Could her mom Steph be showing interest? Cat is on her way to the gathering, and tell me she doesn't look like one of the big folks.
Only managed to catch the back of Scott as he chatted with brother Kev and his Lisa. Cat and Kyle are trucking over and Emily is still trying to find someone willing to play ball.This time Bethany, there in the background, looks like she is giving it some serious thought. Dad Craig and mom Steph just won't play ball with our Emily.
Again showing that unerring ability to capture folks at their best, here is a good shot of the back of Andy's head. Joe's sweety, Val, was there to brightenen the picture and the day. Do you think Ellie was telling Andy to turn around and get in the picture?
I took a ZILLION pictures of Gene and Lisa opening their gifts and then realized with only a FEW exceptions I had no idea who gave what, so rather than embarrass myself trying to show them opening your gifts, here is a representative shot.

I had to include the picture of Lisa opening the the box containing the Dougherty's baptismal dress. Recognize this baby has at least two baptismal outfits (yes the Pawlowski have one as well). At least for picture purposes, on the BIG day, this baby will be a quick change artist.

Kyle doesn't look all that impressed with the goings on, but Ellie is checking it out.
Before anyone starts thinking this party was ONLY a baby shower for Lisa, I had to include a "birthday girl" shot of our other daughter Bethany opening her gift. Nice glasses Bethany!
Our sincerest thanks to the Dougherty's for working with us to make this day special for Lisa and Gene. The count down is short to that next special day, when a new baby and grandbaby makes the scene.
